Our story

Education has been our mission for more than a quarter of a century

Founded in 1997. Today — from pre-school through to high school.

Ohanyan Educational Complex was founded in 1997 by Suren and Susanna Ohanyan, who also founded the Eurasia International University. Over the decades the complex has grown into an innovative learning environment that includes the Newtonic pre-school, primary, middle and high school. Here, knowledge, character education and modern pedagogical approaches develop hand in hand. The complex's mission is to nurture socially responsible, critically thinking and creative individuals, ready for a rapidly changing world.

From its earliest years the complex has been a place of forward-looking initiatives — from chess lessons to integrated education in national dance, robotics, engineering and science. Today Ohanyan Educational Complex combines national values with international pedagogical approaches, cultivating inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, collaboration and a culture of lifelong learning.

Our mission is to provide a safe environment where everyone is valued and respected. We strive to develop individuals who will become lifelong active learners — responsible and innovative citizens, ready to meet the challenges of the future. Working alongside families and the wider community, we aim to create learning opportunities that build the knowledge, skills and capacities needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.

We are committed to fostering a culture of respect — encouraging students to value differing perspectives and collaborate to build a more harmonious world. Our programmes challenge students intellectually, developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for understanding, withstanding and resolving the complex global challenges of the future.

A quarter-century of accomplishments

Throughout its history the complex has launched many initiatives aimed at raising the quality of teaching and meeting the challenges of educating a new generation.

01International

Microsoft Corporation

The complex was selected as one of 63 innovative schools worldwide under Microsoft's “Partners in Learning” programme, chosen from schools in roughly 200 countries.
In 2010–2011 it was recognised as an Innovative School of Armenia, with a first-class diploma.
In 2011–2012 it was recognised as an “International Innovative School”, representing Armenia at the international forum in Washington.
In the “Energy and Environment 2012” programme, 3 of its 4 entries were winners, including a second place internationally.
In 2012 — the grand, first and honourable mention awards in the “Innovative Teacher” programme, and participation in the European forum in Lisbon.
In 2014 — the grand award of the international “Expert Teacher” programme, and representation at the international forum in Barcelona.
In 2015 and 2019 — teachers were once again recognised as Microsoft “Expert” and “Innovative” educators.

02Europe

EU eTwinning

The complex is an active member of the eTwinning programme, holding numerous National and European Quality Labels.
In 2017, at the five-year eTwinning conference, both teachers and students received National and European Quality awards.
In May 2018, the complex was recognised as an eTwinning School.
Two of our educators are eTwinning ambassadors and lead seminars in Armenia and abroad.
More than 60% of our teachers are active on the European eTwinning collaboration platform.

03Original programme

STEAM programme (science, technology, engineering, mathematics + the arts)

By order 1758-A/2 of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, the STEAM programme has been officially approved as an original comprehensive programme.
Developed by Executive Director Susanna Ohanyan and the methodology team as an integrated, outcomes-based programme.
Delivered using Singapore methodology, with detailed guides, textbooks and original publications.
Its aim is to educate competitive citizens of the future who will build careers in STEM fields.

04IB World School

International Baccalaureate

The complex and the Newtonic pre-school are both authorised as an IB World School and IB pre-school.
An education that meets international standards, shaping knowledgeable, open-minded future leaders.
Inquiry-based and project-based learning, with cross-disciplinary connections, sit at the heart of our methodology.
The PYP programme (ages 3–12) supports intellectual, social and emotional growth, and a love of lifelong learning.
In 2025 the complex was also recognised as an authorised IB Diploma Programme (DP) school, providing a complete continuum of international education.

05Other achievements

Partnerships and programmes

In 2015 — KTAK's “Teacher of the Year” nomination once again went to the complex.
In 2017 — the launch of the “Science Primer” textbook, today used in Armenian schools in the USA and Estonia.
Rose from 900th to 14th place on the MySchool online platform in a single academic year.
Partnerships with ATP, ISSD, the Media Initiatives Centre and HACL.
Free tuition for socially vulnerable, gifted and diasporan Armenian children.
