About us

The Ohanyan Educational complex (kindergarten and pre-school, K12 and university) was founded in 1997 by a family of educators and education administrators, who have been working in the state system for a long period. Having certain limitations to implementing innovative educational programs at the state institutions, the founders made the decision to establish an educational complex with a low student-teacher ratio, alternative and innovative educational programs, highly trained teachers and staff, and a focus on student-centered learning.

Our mission is to provide a safe environment where everyone is valued and respected. We strive to prepare all students to become lifelong learners and responsible and innovative citizens ready to meet the challenges of the future. In partnership with families and the community, our goal is to create relevant learning opportunities for students — both inside and outside the classroom — that help them develop the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and character necessary to succeed in a technologically advanced world. Our commitment to our students and our dedication to impacting their education through innovative methods makes us unique.

The educational complex was among the first in the country to tackle the STEAM curriculum since 2009 and has implemented a number of initiatives to systemize and adapt the pedagogy and curriculum based on it. Starting from 2015 to the according decree of the MESCS it tested the STEAM programs and received the right to implement the program separately, independent from the state program. The teaching methods at the educational complex are inquiry-based, project, problem, and play-based. Much importance is given to independent decision-making and at the same time effective team working skills, self-regulation, and self-knowledge: to this end, the new mindfulness program is in the pilot implementation phase.
